

Bryce Taylor is a Texas band director with 55 years of teaching experience. The first ten of those were in Three Rivers where in 1959, the school band was named as the first Class A Honor Band in TMEA state level auditions. The next thirty years were spent as music supervisor and high school band director for the Alice ISD. His bands there earned 29 consecutive UIL Sweepstakes awards and placed in the top five TMEA Honor Band auditions for Class 5A twelve times. The Alice High School band was one of the first five schools to be awarded the Sousa Flag of Honor by The Sousa Foundation and is listed on their national Roll of Honor for high school bands in existence between 1960 and 1980.
A partial listing of Taylor's accomplishments and honors include Past President of TMEA, Runner up for Texas State Teacher of the Year, recipient of the National Federation of State High School Associations Music Educator award, a member of the Phi Beta Mu Hall of Fame, TBA Bandmaster of the Year, and is an elected member of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association. Bryce served as ABA President in 1999-2000.
Currently; Mr. Taylor serves as music consultant for the Alice public schools, teaches music education classes at Texas A&M Kingsville and is music director / conductor of The Corpus Christi Wind Symphony, an adult community band that provides free public concerts in the Coastal Bend area schools and universities each year.
In addition to the professional accomplishments-and most importantly - Bryce and Diana are proud parents of four children: Scott, band director at Richardson High School; Kim, architectural engineer in Austin; Cindy, medical doctor and deputy editor of "The Annals of Internal Medicine"; and Kerry, band director at Westlake High School.
It is noteworthy that Bryce, Scott and Kerry are all past presidents of the Texas Music Educators Association and elected members of the American Bandmasters Association.
